David started playing piano by ear at the age of five and has always loved popular music.

He drifted into playing jazz in his early teens and then, inspired by the work of such icons as Elvis, Bob Dylan, Lennon & McCartney, Randy Newman and Phil Spector, he started writing songs.

Over the years he has also built up an extensive repertoire of other writers compositions.

In recent times, his music has attained significant recognition. For "We're going to change the world" (made famous by Matt Monro), he was nominated for an Ivor Novello award in the category "The most outstanding song musically and lyrically".

He has also written and contributed to film and TV scores. He wrote the theme for the film "The Bawdy Adventures of Tom Jones", made at Pinewood Studios and starring Joan Collins, Nicky Henson and Madeleine Smith. A special version of "We're going to change the world" was used in the Channel 4 series "The Mark Thomas Comedy Product".
